Freshly Baked, Student Made: Bakery & Retail Academy Comes to Mitchell’s Plain

The Bakery & Retail Academy is bringing the skills of its talented students into the community with its bakery truck, popping up near the Melomed in Mitchell’s Plain every Saturday. After a successful first Saturday, the team is looking forward to welcoming even more members of the community in the weeks to come.
The truck will be stocked with a selection of baked goods prepared by the Academy’s students under the directive of the experienced food developer, Garth, who has been in the baking industry for many years.
It’s more than just picking up something tasty for the weekend - every purchase helps create a real-world learning experience for students as they build their confidence, practise their skills and get a taste of what it’s like to serve customers.
When & Where?
The truck will be back every Saturday from 9am to 3pm and the last Sunday of every month, from 9am until sold out. It will be situated opposite the Melomed Hospital on the corner of Imperial and Katdoring Street, Mitchells Plain.
So, if you’re in the area, keep an eye out for the Bakery & Retail Academy truck. Come hungry, grab something delicious and support the next generation of bakers while you’re at it.
