Our Mitchells Plain Bakery Truck Initiative
The Bakery & Retail Academy is bringing the skills of its talented students into the community with its bakery truck, popping up near the Melomed in Mitchell’s Plain. After a successful first Saturday, the team is looking forward to welcoming even more members of the community in the weeks to come.
The truck will be stocked with a selection of baked goods prepared by the Academy’s students under the directive of the experienced food developer, Garth, who has been in the baking industry for many years.
It’s more than just picking up something tasty for the weekend - every purchase helps create a real-world learning experience for students as they build their confidence, practise their skills and get a taste of what it’s like to serve customers.
When & Where?
The truck will be back this October – Saturday (24/10) and Sunday (25/10) and the following Saturday (31/10). It will be situated opposite the Melomed Hospital, on the corner of Imperial and Katdoring Street, Mitchells Plain.
